Manchester City goalkeeper Donnarumma plays in a replica shirt for fans: what's the reason.
Donnarumma plays in a replica shirt
According to The Sun: 26-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has played in both of his Premier League matches for Manchester City in a replica shirt. He joined the club after moving from Paris Saint-Germain for £26 million, where, despite winning three trophies last season, he did not receive the proper support.

Donnarumma made his debut two weeks ago in a match against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. In that match, he successfully kept a clean sheet and helped his team win the derby 3-0.
According to information from Footy Headlines, he played in the replica shirt for the first time. Although it had the usual Puma and City logos, its version was looser compared to the official shirt.
It was also noted that his shirt lacked elements present on the official match kit worn by his teammate James Trafford earlier this season.
This source also reports that Donnarumma continued to wear this same replica during the 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates.
This is not the first case of a Premier League goalkeeper choosing a replica shirt. Previously, Andre Onana, who was loaned to Manchester United, also opted for a replica two years ago.

Onana chose the replica due to discomfort in the player's tight shirt. The Cameroonian goalkeeper left United this month and was loaned to Trabzonspor for the rest of the season.

Donnarumma was also linked with a move to Manchester United before Onana left the club, but ultimately he was signed by Manchester City, and Ruben Amorim's team made a deal with Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
Donnarumma's choice to wear a replica shirt may be indicative for new players adapting to their club. It reflects his desire to feel comfortable during matches, which undoubtedly plays an important role in his on-field performance.
At the same time, Onana's case demonstrates that this decision may not be so rare in world football, where player comfort is just as important as club style or traditions.
