The EU White Paper 'Readiness 2030': What It Envisions

The European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, reported on the changes included in the EU White Paper 'Readiness 2030'. According to this document, European Union countries must increase their defense spending to 3.5% of GDP.

Kubilius emphasized that intelligence data from Germany and Denmark indicate the Kremlin's readiness to test NATO Article 5 by 2030. This has formed the basis for drafting the 'White Paper'. The document has four main directions, including increasing defense spending to 3.5% of GDP.

In addition, the 'White Paper' envisions addressing gaps in defense capabilities and developing a robust defense production sector. The document also directly addresses military assistance to Ukraine and the integration of its defense industry with the European one.

The final direction of 'Readiness 2030' is to strengthen the base of the European defense industry. To achieve this, it is planned to increase investments, establish joint defense orders, and foster cooperation among national governments.
