The Crown Prince of Iran Calls for Seizures of City Centers and a General Strike.
According to ТСН: The Crown Prince of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, who currently resides in the United States, addressed his compatriots amid large-scale protests in Iran. The politician, whose activity has noticeably increased, called on the protest participants to occupy central areas of the cities.
In his video appeal published on social media platform X, he emphasized the importance of nationwide strikes in the transport and energy sectors.
Pahlavi noted that the scale of the demonstrations has significantly impacted the ruling establishment, revealing its vulnerability and the weaknesses of the security system.
According to the prince, the next step in pressure against the Islamist regime of the Ayatollahs should be the continuous presence of protesters on the streets and economic pressure. He stressed that cutting off financial pathways for the Islamic Republic of Iran could significantly reduce its capacity for repression.
In addition, the prince called on workers from the transport, oil and gas sectors, and other energy industries to join the nationwide strike.
He also urged protesters to take to the streets on Saturday and Sunday evenings, starting at 6 PM, with national flags, symbols, and images to regain control of public spaces.
Pahlavi emphasized that the goal of the protests goes beyond symbolic actions, noting that protesters should be prepared to seize and hold central areas of major cities. He urged demonstrators to 'move towards the city centers through several routes, unite separate crowds, and prepare for a prolonged stay on the streets, taking care in advance of necessary supplies.'
Addressing representatives of security forces and armed groups who expressed support for the opposition, the prince called on them to stop the 'repressive machine of the Islamic Republic.'
'I too am preparing to return to my homeland to be with you, the great nation of Iran, when our national revolution triumphs. I believe that this day is very close,' added Pahlavi.
How Prince Pahlavi Ended Up in the USA
After the Islamic Revolution, when the clerics ousted his father, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, from the throne in 1979, the 19-year-old prince was undergoing training in the U.S. Air Force. This was the last year of his life in Iran. Today, the prince is 65 years old.
Protests in Iran erupted in late December due to the economic crisis in the country, which led to the collapse of the national currency. Protest actions reached over 270 settlements in 27 out of 31 provinces of Iran.
Thus, Reza Pahlavi's activity during the protests indicates his attempts to significantly influence the situation in Iran, particularly through support for mass demonstrations. The future of the protest movement in the country, as well as its impact on the politics of the Islamist regime, will depend on how events unfold.
