The island of Astypalea has been hit hardest, with Mayor Nikos Komineas reporting that annual rainfall there has reached just 2.5 centimeters. Tourists are strongly advised to check local travel advisories before visiting these areas.

Water Supply Problems Spread to Other Islands

Beyond Astypalea, emergency measures have also been enacted on the following islands:

• Alonissos
• Leros
• Patmos
• Symi
• Karpathos

These locations are grappling with critical water supply issues due to abnormally high temperatures. The National Center for Scientific Research 'Demokritos' has warned that drought conditions could worsen through 2049, raising concerns among residents and tourism operators alike.
