In August 2025, the government decided to provide financial assistance to certain categories of citizens on the occasion of Independence Day. This assistance applies to war veterans and victims of Nazi persecution. Ukrainians were explained the procedure for submitting an online application to receive this payment. The government explanation from the Pension Fund of Ukraine concerns the determination of the amounts of the monetary payment for Independence Day. To receive this assistance, citizens can apply online on the PFU portal. Most recipients will automatically receive the payment along with their pension, but some categories of persons must personally contact the Pension Fund office. In 2025, the amounts of financial assistance vary depending on the category of citizens. For example, the payment for war invalids depends on the group and ranges from 2.7 to 3.1 thousand hryvnias. There are also separate amounts for war participants, families of fallen defenders, or children of partisans. In addition, there are other assistance programs that are also considered in the regions of Ukraine.
