According to The Sun: Iran continues to increase the number of punitive measures to suppress any possible uprising. The latest victim was an assassin who was hanged in public before a calculated audience. This horrifying event was a consequence of a new law aimed at boosting executions, designed to intimidate political opponents.
The Iranian government, which already has a poor record on human rights, continues to carry out 'unpredictable numbers' of punitive actions. Official statistics indicate 1000 executions last year, which is the highest figure in the last 30 years. British politicians and human rights activists have called for an international response to these brutal actions of the Iranian government.
