Teofimo Lopez on the Paul-Davis fight: It's a good show, but it's a circus.
Teofimo Lopez supported Jake Paul in the match against Gervonta Davis
According to The Sun: Teofimo Lopez unexpectedly expressed support for Jake Paul in his exhibition fight against Gervonta Davis. Paul will meet lightweight champion Davis on November 14 on Netflix.
GettyHowever, due to the significant weight difference, the fight will not meet professional standards and will not affect the fighters' records.
Many of Davis's opponents criticized his choice of Paul as an opponent, but Lopez became one of the few who supported this decision. He noted:
“I’m just happy. Let’s see how it goes, that’s all. It’s good entertainment.”
Davis ended his last fight in a draw with Lamont Roach in March but turned down a rematch in favor of meeting Paul. Despite the criticism, the motto of the alliance has been that they always choose what they believe is necessary.
Lopez, a former unified lightweight champion, does not condemn Davis for collaborating with Paul, as he knows they grew up together as amateurs and understands that everyone has the right to make their own decisions.
Lopez added:
“He doesn’t care. He wouldn’t even do this if he knew he could aim for competition.”
“He has always been this way and continues to do so, only caring about his desires.”
Jake Paul's fight will take place at a maximum weight of 195 pounds, with 12-ounce gloves and in a five-round format of 3 minutes each. The winner will be announced, but the result will not be counted towards professional statistics.
Lopez is currently negotiating to defend the WBO lightweight title against Shakur Stevenson, scheduled for next year. He confirmed:
“We are negotiating, and we are very determined to meet Shakur Stevenson in early 2026.”

Lopez's support for Jake Paul highlights the complex relationships in the boxing world, where the choice of opponents often becomes a topic of discussion. The fight between Paul and Davis promises not only entertainment but also a chance for new challenges for both fighters, marking the growing popularity of unconventional matchups in modern boxing.
Lopez's negotiations for the title defense indicate his intention to continue his career at the highest level, striving to elevate his achievements. Time will tell how events will unfold, but interest in boxing remains on the rise, especially with such an intriguing match ahead.
