David Haye joined numerous fans in expressing condolences to the popular boxer from Manchester, including his former rivals, footballers, and celebrities.

Haye described Hatton as 'a man who achieved success with honor' and 'a man who defined what a true champion is'. He shared memories and photos about their communication.

On his Instagram page, he noted:

“Ricky was a brother in our sport. When I saw him training, fighting, and giving his all, I saw a man who defined what a true champion is. Not just medals and victories, but courage, humility, kindness, and loyalty. He wasn't perfect, but he was real, honest to the core.”

Haye also added:

“We spent many evenings together around the world, living life to the fullest as only boxers of our era knew how. He never intended to live a quiet, boring life; that was not the Hitman. He was a warrior, a man who would have stood on the battlefield with an axe thousands of years ago, and I would be proud to stand beside him in the fight against the enemy. I know he is now in heaven, with a cold beer in hand, saving me a spot for the time when my turn comes. Rest in peace, Ricky; your fight continues through all of us.”

Hatton's body was discovered by his manager after he failed to appear at a boxing event. The police received a call from a citizen at 6:45 AM and found the body of the 46-year-old man.

The Greater Manchester Police stated that they do not consider the circumstances of Ricky's death suspicious.

Additionally, it became known that Ricky was discovered by his long-time manager and close friend Paul Speak. As boxing commentator Steve Buns explained, Paul visited Ricky's home when he did not show up at the event.

He also noted:

“On Saturday night, Ricky did not go to the boxing show. Spiky learned about it on Sunday morning. He went into the house. In fact, it was Paul Speak who found his great friend and the people's champion Ricky Hatton. Spiky deserves a bit of love; you can't even imagine. This is a 25-year relationship they had as a commercial and business manager, but more than that - he is his close friend and mentor. I can't recall any similar relationship in sports, honestly.”

This tragic news came as a shock to sports peers and fans of Ricky Hatton. His immense contribution to boxing and numerous memorable moments will remain in the memory of many. Memories of him will live on in the hearts of those who loved and respected this remarkable athlete.
