The death of the footballer on the field
According to The Sun: The cousin of famous 'Chelsea' player Branislav Ivanovic, Dejan Milovanovic, tragically died from a heart attack during a game.
GettyMilovanovic, the captain of 'Red Star', won eight trophies and also played for the French club 'Lens' and the Greek club 'Panionios'. He ended his career in 2014.
Tragedy on the field
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when 41-year-old Milovanovic took the field for a veterans game for 'Red Star'. After scoring against 'PKB Corporation', he suddenly collapsed during a corner.
The footballer was revived and taken to the hospital, but another heart attack occurred that was fatal.
The veterans league decided to postpone the next game due to the tragedy. An official statement noted:
“Dear representatives of the club, just a few minutes ago during a veterans game, FK Zvezdara player Dejan Milovanovic left us.”
“For this reason, the next game, scheduled for September 18, will be postponed.”

The 'Lens' club also expressed its condolences and noted:
“We learned with deep sadness of the heavy loss of Dejan Milovanovic, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 41.”
“The player was part of 'Blood and Gold' from 2008 to 2010, playing 47 matches, inspiring the team to promotion in 2009.”
“The club expresses its deepest sympathy to the family and friends.”
Branislav Ivanovic, Milovanovic's cousin, spent nine years at 'Chelsea', where he played 377 matches and scored 34 goals. He played a key role in winning ten trophies, including the Champions League and three Premier League titles. He also earned 105 caps for Serbia and ended his career in 2021 at 'West Bromwich Albion'. Many consider him one of the best players in the club's history, alongside John Terry and Frank Lampard.
