Zelensky's decree on the organization of the SBU's activities
By an additional decree, Zelensky determined that:
- the head of the SBU has a first deputy and four deputies;
- in the event of the temporary absence of the head of the special service, his duties are performed by the first deputy, and in his absence, by the deputy appointed by the head;
- in conditions of martial law, the President of Ukraine can appoint an acting head of the SBU.
This decree comes into effect on the day of its publication.
As a reminder, on January 5, the previous head of the SBU, Vasyl Maliuk, resigned, emphasizing that he would remain in the service for the implementation of asymmetrical special operations of world level. Zelensky thanked Maliuk for his contribution to the work and instructed to make the direction of asymmetrical operations the strongest in the world.
On the same day, it became known that Yevhen Khmara would temporarily head the SBU. After meeting with him, Zelensky thanked the special forces for their important combat work and announced the expansion of the experience of the Special Operations Center 'A' and the preparation of new special operations.
The appointment of Yevhen Khmara to this position underscores the importance of strengthening the leadership of the SBU in the face of modern challenges. The continuation of work on asymmetrical special operations also indicates the desire of the Ukrainian government to adapt to new realities and threats that the country faces in times of war. Such initiatives should help improve the situation at the front and ensure the security of the state.
