Zelenskyy to Attend Ramstein Meeting on June 18: Key Topics on the Agenda.
President Zelenskyy Joins the Ukraine Defense Contact Group
According to Novyny.live: On June 18, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will take part in a session of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, held in the Ramstein format. The meeting is set to focus on military aid for Ukraine and the advancement of its domestic defense manufacturing capabilities.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed the Ukrainian leader’s attendance. The day before, on June 17, Zelenskyy held talks with Rutte, during which they discussed critical issues—especially securing U.S. licenses to produce air defense systems. This matter is central to strengthening Ukraine’s defensive capacity.
“It’s a packed day of meetings aimed at securing funding and production support for Ukraine,” Rutte stated.
The Importance of International Backing
President Zelenskyy’s participation in the Contact Group meeting marks a significant step in solidifying global support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war. The push for licenses to manufacture air defense systems highlights Kyiv’s ambition to build its own defense industry and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. This could prove essential for achieving greater autonomy and resilience for Ukraine’s armed forces in the long term.
