According to The Sun: 19-year-old Mohd Junaid is feared dead after a risky jump into the flooded Yamuna River in India, following friends who dared him to perform the act for a symbolic bet of 4 pounds.

Jam Press/TIMEncouraged by his friends, he hesitated not to jump from the bridge into the turbulent waters. Witnesses claim the boy climbed onto the railings of the bridge before jumping into the whirlpool.
Jam Press/TIMIn a video taken by bystanders, viewers can hear them cheering him on during the jump. The boy, dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans, plunged into the water, trying to come back, but the swift current took him out of sight of the spectators.
Despite the active attempts of rescuers who arrived at the scene, he could not be found. The police noted that the situation was complicated by the high water level caused by continuous rain.
Rescue operations are ongoing, but there have been no results. One of the officials stressed:
“This kind of recklessness will not go unpunished,”emphasizing the serious consequences for those who encourage dangerous behavior.
Locals express outrage and urge the authorities to intensify safety measures along the banks of the Yamuna. This situation serves as a serious reminder of the dangers of reckless behavior akin to seeking attention on social media.
