The Godfather of the Fallen Soldier Stole 6.3 Million UAH in Aid: Court Issues Verdict.
The Mukachevo District Court found a man guilty of embezzling state assistance funds for the family of a fallen defender of Ukraine. Interestingly, the accused turned out to be the godfather of the fallen soldier.
The court established that the man helped the mother of the fallen Ukrainian hero obtain and arrange all necessary documents to receive monetary assistance from the state after her son's death.
The court found that from December 2022 to February 2023, the accused illegally transferred 6.3 million UAH from the soldier's mother's account to his own account.
The man used this money for personal needs: he made purchases in stores and shopping centers, withdrew cash from ATMs, received cash through the bank counter, and transferred money to other individuals.
Court Decision
The criminal fully admitted his guilt. He is currently in custody at the Zakarpattia Correctional Facility No. 9. The court sentenced him to five years of imprisonment, along with the confiscation of property.
It was previously reported that in Lutsk, the court found a lawyer guilty of abusing influence over officials of the Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support. For corrupt agreements, she received a sentence.
In Zaporizhzhia, a woman who provided information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Russia and justified the full-scale invasion was brought to criminal responsibility.
Corruption and the misuse of state funds negatively affect trust in the authorities and society as a whole. The court's decision regarding the man who embezzled state assistance funds for the family of the fallen soldier confirms the unacceptability of such actions and establishes the fight against corruption as one of the priority areas of state policy.Read also
