According to The Sun: Jermaine Defoe expressed his willingness to support 'Rangers' during a difficult period for the club.

The former England striker helped Steven Gerrard's team win the Premier League title in 2021.

Defoe, 42, stated that he would like to return to 'Ibrox' after Russell Martin and his team's dismissal. He was once part of the interim coaching staff when Gerrard left the club and later worked in Tottenham's academy after retiring from playing.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, he noted:

“I have completed all my coaching courses, and if I get the chance to return to this club to help this group of players, it would be without question.”

“I have been saying this from day one after retiring. It is well documented, the time I spent there, and the win, perhaps the most important title in the club's history.”

“I, Steven, and all the guys did it, and it was incredible - to be a part of that. It is more than just a football club, and I think I understood what it is about.”

“I realized that when you wear the Rangers shirt, you have to win, and that is the demands and standards.”

Meanwhile, Gary McAllister has not ruled out the possibility of returning if he gets a chance to work with Steven Gerrard again. He was his assistant and noted:

“It's a big question. Never say never, right?”

“We had a great time there. Steven did an incredible job to win the 55th title.”

“Since we left, there have been three or four coaching changes, and he will always be associated with Glasgow Rangers.”

“He enjoyed it there a lot. He was out of the game for six or seven months, so you never know what can happen.”
