New Life of Robert Fleck
According to The Sun: Robert Fleck was once a record signing for Chelsea and played for the Scotland national team at the World Cup. However, his life has taken a different turn – he has become a teaching assistant.
He once became Chelsea's record signing for £2.1 million Shutterstock EditorialFleck is now 60 years old. He started his career at Rangers, scoring 29 goals in 85 appearances. In 1987, he moved to Norwich, becoming a real club hero with 39 goals in 143 matches.
Fleck helped Norwich reach two FA Cup semi-finals and also played for Scotland at the 1990 World Cup. In 1992, he signed a controversial contract with Chelsea for a record fee of £2.1 million following a strike at Norwich. However, he was unable to leave a significant mark at Chelsea – he scored only three goals in 40 matches.
After loans at Bolton and Bristol City, he returned to Norwich in 1995, where he scored another 16 goals in 104 appearances, becoming the fourth top scorer in the club's history before moving to Reading. Following an injury in 1999, Fleck retired and worked for some time at the club Gorleston.
A New Path
But football is now in Fleck's past. He currently works as a teaching assistant at Parkside School in Norwich and enjoys his job every day.

Fleck initially conducted training sessions for children, but now he focuses on teaching and caring for the students.
“I love it. I really enjoy helping kids, whether it is working with them in class or developing life skills in the community,” he said in an interview.
“I try to make things fun. Life shouldn't be too serious. I try to bring a little sunshine.”
“I never thought I would work in a school; I hated school. I wasn't very good at anything apart from sports, so I'm still learning now.”
“It's great and more important than football. I could never sit still, and here I’m moving all day.”
“There's always something happening.”
Robert Fleck's departure from the world of professional football did not mark an end for him, but opened up new opportunities in life. Switching to education, he found his new calling, bringing him joy and fulfillment. Fleck shows that even after a sports career, it is possible to find new goals and satisfaction in life.Read also
