The recreational stadium is planned to be upgraded to 18,000 seats, increasing the current capacity from 14,500.
Bath has engaged architects from F3, who have previously worked on renovations at Wimbledon and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Club officials aim to transform the stadium into one of the most modern in the world, ensuring the highest quality of service.
Among the innovations, there will be food offerings from Michelin-starred chefs, similar to what is currently presented in Fulham at their Riverside grandstand.
Club CEO Tarkin Macdonald told the Daily Mail: “We want to create amazing gastronomic experiences that open the curtain behind the scenes.”
“The club is in the tunnel. We want to implement technology to enhance the experience for everyone on site. We would like to have guest chefs.”
“We want to collaborate with local restaurants, whether it's the star-studded Olive Tree or Walcott House.”
“Look at Fulham in the Premier League. Craven Cottage is a very interesting place for us. They have this quasi-documentary look, and they have transformed it around Fulham Pier.”
“This is an opportunity for us, on a smaller scale, to create a sort of watery destination. This area has not really been activated yet, so we will definitely do that.”
“On non-match days, we will have conference rooms, a fantastic seafood restaurant on the top floor of the West stand. It will be a sustainable business year-round.”
Macdonald noted that Bath aims to be at the forefront of using augmented reality in stadiums. He also emphasized that the club's traditional values will remain, and they will ensure the uniqueness of the Rec stadium.
“We want people to access key statistics and images on their phones during the game. We want to use augmented reality so fans can see kick heights or the speed of Henry Arndle during the match.”
“The speed and pace of change are accelerating rapidly, so this is our moment.”
“We want to preserve everything that makes The Rec special: access to players, intimacy, and the ability to hear conversations during matches.”
“We also want to introduce innovations that excite. We will not be the largest stadium.”
“We don’t have the scale like Tottenham, but what we can do is wisely implement technology to create a wonderful experience.”
“In our app, there are two screens. One is retractable, near Johnstone Street, a big screen that has no impact outside of games.”
