Paul Nicholls names the main favorite of the season: why this horse is causing a stir.
New goals for Joyau Allen
According to The Sun: Trainer Paul Nicholls has highlighted his new protégé, the brother of the famous horse Envoi Allen, among the top ten prospects of the season, stating: “I’m sure he’ll win.”
He also set an early target for Caldwell Potter, the festival winner at Cheltenham, who belongs to Sir Alexis Ferguson.
Caldwell Potter from Sir Alex Ferguson will be one of Nicholls' main horses this new season. PAThe Ditcheat trainer is ready to start the new season, which officially kicks off in Chepstow on Friday.
Among all the horses in his stable, one stands out as a “dark horse” capable of achieving great success.
Joyau Allen, the brother of bumper champion Henry de Bromhead's Envoi Allen, has great prospects, according to Nicholls.
The six-year-old horse, owned by Johnny de la Haye, won his debut in January 2024 and took second place in his last start a month later.
Nicholls shared with Betfair that the horse is ready for the new season:
“Joyau Allen is a big, strong, chasing type of horse; he is definitely one that whatever he achieves over hurdles will be a bonus but he’s a full brother to Envoi Allen, so he’s well related. He won his bumper for us at Exeter and ran some nice races.”
Caldwell Potter finished last season with two victories at Cheltenham and Aintree. Nicholls plans to enter him in the Betfair Chase at the end of November, where he has good chances of winning.

The trainer also hopes for successes at the Cheltenham festival with Jubilee Alpha, who has excellent results over hurdles.
