Pension Indexation: What to Expect for Ukrainians?
According to new changes, pension indexation will be conducted on March 1, 2025. This means that pensions will increase. Variable indexation is possible for special and other pensions at the government's decision, but indexation of labor pensions is mandatory.
The draft budget of the Pension Fund earmarks 44.7 billion hryvnias for pension payment indexation. The indexation calculation considers two key indicators: half of the inflation rate and half of the wage growth rates for 2024. Stakeholders predict that pensions will increase by 10%.
For pensioners with a basic pension of 10,000 hryvnias, the increase will be significant, but there is no indexation planned for high pensioners who receive more than 23,610 hryvnias.
It is important to note that indexation does not apply to new pensioners and those who have been receiving a pension for less than three years.
