Rangers started the season worst in 47 years: what is the reason for the failure.
According to The Sun: The outrage of 'Rangers' fans regarding the performance of head coach Russell Martin continues to grow.
Since his appointment, he has faced immense pressure.
Willie VassThe 39-year-old Martin, former 'Southampton' coach, is under enormous pressure from fans after a clearly weak start to the season.
The 0-2 loss to 'Hearts' on Saturday became the fifth defeat in the league, and the team still has not tasted victory. This is the worst start for 'Rangers' in 47 years.
Many fans openly express their dissatisfaction.
At 'Ibrox', loud chants were heard: '
Martin, Martin, f*ck off', while fans also joined in chanting 'sack him in the morning', along with 'Hearts' fans.
According to sources, Andrew Cavenagh, the club's representative, held urgent talks with Martin later that same day.
Despite the string of defeats, the club's management continues to support Martin.
In response to the situation, two leading fan groups of 'Rangers' called for the coach's dismissal, while 'Union Bears' demanded the resignation of executive director Patrick Stewart.
Ultras have also announced a protest against Martin and Stewart before the upcoming Premier Sports Cup match against 'Hibs', which will take place on Saturday.
As Martin himself admitted, his appointment was received ambiguously.
On Saturday, he commented: '
I knew it wouldn't be easy coming here. Most didn't want me here from the very start.'
Martin joined 'Rangers' at a press conference on June 5, posing alongside executive director Stewart and new sporting director Kevin Thelwell.
While some fans were impressed by his words, his choice of footwear drew sharp criticism.
Martin appeared at the presentation in a suit and tie, but shoes with white soles became a topic of discussion.
Traditionally, 'Rangers' coaches wear brown boots during presentations and on the field.
Legendary coaches such as Walter Smith, Graham Souness, and Dick Advocaat always chose this style.
Steven Gerrard also adhered to the traditional look.
The presence of such unusual shoes sparked discontent among some fans.
One fan noted: '
Give this man a pair of brown boots.'
Another added: '
It should be brown boots. If Steven Gerrard couldn't change the traditional style, then he shouldn't either.'
Despite the opinions of some fans who didn't see it as a big issue and said: '
Some people will complain about everything.'
Martin's choice of attire was later explained: supposedly everything happened too quickly, and he had to cut his vacation short to finalize a deal and become the 'Gers' coach.
In his first official match, Martin changed clothes several times.
'Gers' defeated 'Panathinaikos' 2-0 in their first Champions League match, and this time Martin arrived in a suit and brown boots.
After the kickoff, he switched to a more casual style, wearing a black t-shirt and the same shoes he wore at the press conference.
He then returned to formal attire for media positioning after the match.
Shay Given, former goalkeeper of 'Newcastle' and 'Manchester City', noted that the absence of brown boots at the presentation made Martin vulnerable from the very beginning.
Given shared his thoughts on the BBC Monday Night Club: '
I was in Loch Lomond a couple of weeks ago at a charity event, and there were many 'Rangers' fans, lots of season ticket holders.'
“They said - from day one - that every coach in the history of the club appeared at a press conference in a blue suit and brown boots.”
“I know it may seem strange, but Russell Martin was in sneakers.”
“He immediately broke the tradition of 'Rangers' coaches, and while it may sound silly, he put himself in an awkward situation from the very first moments due to the wrong footwear.”
However, Martin is not the only coach to violate the rule regarding traditional brown boots. His predecessor Philippe Clement also did not adhere to this rule.
Just like Martin, the Belgian appeared in a suit and tie at his presentation, but was also wearing black sneakers from Hugo Boss.

The situation with the 'Rangers' coach is clearly escalating, and much depends on how the team can recover after a poor start. Fans are demanding change, and Martin urgently needs to turn results around, or else his future at the club may be in jeopardy. The next matches will be crucial for his career at the helm of 'Rangers'.
