The boy and his mother reached out to the boxing legend after he became a victim of severe bullying at school. The family was shocked when the four-time world champion responded with a personal video last Wednesday.
In a 30-second clip, Ricky assures the young boxer:
“I believe you have had difficulty at school with bullies. Don’t worry, that’s nothing new. I had a bully in school too. But you made the right choice by getting into boxing, because it gives you confidence. Once those bullies see your confidence, they will leave you alone. So you are on the right path, my friend. Hang in there, and I wish you success in boxing. Good luck, son.”
The boy's mother posted this video online just six days ago, saying Ricky's sudden death would leave this moment an 'eternal memory'.
She noted: “It’s amazing that Ricky sent us this when he himself was going through tough times. It shows how kind he was, and it meant a lot to me and my son. We will cherish it.”
