Iraq has restored the operation of the largest "Lukoil" field: details of the decision.
According to ТСН: Iraqi energy officials reported that the field belonging to the Russian company "Lukoil" is returning to full operational mode.
According to them, the restoration of the entire production capacity is expected within the next few hours, Reuters reports.
Information about capacities and status
Lukoil's operational share in this project is 75%—this is the largest foreign asset of the Russian oil giant. The field's capacity reaches 460 thousand barrels per day, which accounts for approximately 9% of the country's total production.
Reuters notes that Iraq has repeatedly exceeded the production quotas agreed upon as part of OPEC+, which includes allies, including Russia.
Other important news
It was previously reported that an Iraqi court sentenced a defendant to life in prison for recruiting fighters for the Russian army in Ukraine.
We also informed that the USA extended the "sanction license" for Lukoil gas stations outside Russia until April 2026.
These events highlight the importance of the Iraqi energy sector for international partners, particularly for Russia. Despite the complex political situation, Iraq remains a key player in the oil market, and the restoration of Lukoil's capacities can significantly impact its production. At the same time, US sanctions remain an important factor in the company's operations and may limit its opportunities outside Russia.
