Spain to Provide Ukraine with Modern Lanza Radars: What is Known About the Agreement.
Agreement for the Supply of Lanza LTR-25 Radar for Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: The Spanish government has approved an agreement for the production and supply of the modern tactical Lanza LTR-25 radar for Ukraine. This initiative aims to support the country's air defense. The Lanza LTR-25 radar is designed to detect aerial targets at a distance of up to 460 km, making it an important element in ensuring the security of Ukrainian airspace.
The estimated cost of the contract is 37 million euros, and the agreement will be valid until December 31, 2026, with no possibility of extension. The radar is produced by the Spanish company Indra Sistemas, which specializes in high technologies in the field of defense and security.
Features of the Lanza LTR-25 Radar
The Lanza LTR-25 is a 3D long-range radar station. The station supports 'friend-or-foe' recognition systems, allowing for more accurate identification of aerial objects. Unlike two-dimensional radars, 3D stations can determine not only the coordinates but also the altitude of an object, which is critical for modern air defense requirements.
This agreement underscores Spain's commitment to supporting Ukraine amid growing threats.
This agreement is part of a broader strategy of international support for Ukraine in the field of defense, especially amid an ongoing conflict. The provision of modern technologies, such as the Lanza LTR-25 radar, aims to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces in the context of ensuring national security. Given the current geopolitical challenges, cooperation between Spain and Ukraine in the defense sector may contribute to stability in the region.
