ISW assessed the advance of the AFU in the Kursk region.
Ukrainian military continue their advance in Russia's Kursk region, particularly to the southeast of Sudzha. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
"Geolocation footage released on August 15 and 16 indicates that Ukrainian troops continue to operate along the entire declared maximum advance limit of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region, particularly near Sudzha"
The report notes that Russian so-called military bloggers claim that Ukrainian forces have advanced east of Mirny and south of Spalnoye (both southeast of Sudzha), and geolocation images published on August 15 indicate that Ukrainian troops were recently operating within the village of Borki (southeast of Sudzha).
Additionally, according to them, fighting continues north of Sudzha near Russkoye Porochnoe, east of Sudzha near Agronom, and southeast of Sudzha along the line of Giryi-Komishno-Krupez-Spalnoye.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Russian troops repelled a Ukrainian armored attack in the direction of Gordeevka (south of Korenevo) and Ukrainian attacks west of Anastasiivka and southeast of Kauchuq (both northeast of Korenevo and approximately 27 km from the border).
Russian military bloggers also claimed that Russians attacked Ukrainian forces operating near the settlement of Otruby southwest of Korenevo and along the international border.
Recall that the Defense Forces took control of the village of Borki in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
During the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced another 1 to 3 km in the Kursk region.
A military commandant's office was established in the territory of the Kursk region controlled by Ukraine. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, Alexander Syrsky. The AFU took control of 82 settlements and advanced 35 km, controlling more than a thousand square kilometers of Russian territory.
