Cannavaro, 52 years old, will be able to lead the team, which ranks 54th in the FIFA rankings and will participate in a world tournament for the first time in history.

After six unsuccessful months at Dinamo Zagreb, his coaching career has not been successful. Nevertheless, this did not prevent the Uzbek football authorities from inviting him to the team for a major tournament.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is already a verbal agreement that Cannavaro will lead the Uzbekistan national project at the World Cup.

World fame came to Cannavaro in 2006 when he became the captain of the Italian national team that won the World Cup, and later received the Ballon d'Or.

During his coaching career, he worked in China and Saudi Arabia before returning to Italy. He has also coached Benevento, Udinese, and Dinamo Zagreb, where he spent just over three months.

Cannavaro has failed to anchor himself at any of his last four positions, as none of his recent jobs lasted longer than 17 games.

Nevertheless, he brings significant World Cup experience to the Uzbekistan camp.

The Uzbekistan national team finished second in the Asian qualifying group A, losing only two points to Iran. In the qualifiers, the team suffered only one defeat in 10 matches, so now Cannavaro has the responsibility to continue these positive results.

With Fabio Cannavaro's appointment as head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, the team has the opportunity to benefit from his experience and reputation on the world stage. Despite the complicated path in his coaching career, his appointment raises hopes for success during the World Cup, where Uzbekistan has a chance to gain its first major international experience.
