Israel Launches Offensive Against Hezbollah, with Fighting in Lebanon and an Operation in Iran.
Israel Initiates Military Campaign Against Hezbollah
According to Novyny.live: Israel has commenced a military offensive targeting Hezbollah, marked by intense fighting. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, announced that the campaign is expected to last for several days. He stated:
"We are not merely on the defensive; we are taking the offensive against Hezbollah" - Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.
Zamir added, "We must prepare for several days of combat, many days. We require strong defensive readiness and continuous offensive readiness, in waves." This escalation follows months of cross-border exchanges of fire between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group.
Regional Military Actions
As part of this campaign, Israel also conducted strikes on Lebanon overnight on March 2. These actions resulted in the death of Muhammad Raad, the head of Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc.
Separately, on February 28, Israel and the United States carried out a military operation in Iran, which led to the elimination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that this operation could last approximately four weeks. The international community is now closely monitoring developments in the region, as tensions remain high. These coordinated actions represent a significant and dangerous expansion of the conflict beyond Israel's immediate borders.
The current regional situation indicates a sharp escalation of military conflicts, which could have serious consequences for Middle Eastern security. The actions by Israel and the U.S., along with Hezbollah's response, risk triggering a new wave of violence that could impact political stability across the region. Observers note that the international community, including the UN and key nations, must actively respond to these events to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
