According to The Sun: Joey Essex's victory in his debut boxing match has come into question as his opponent, Numero, has claimed his intention to challenge the fight results.

Essex, who is 35, secured a hard-fought victory on points against the Portuguese influencer in a tiring fight last month.

The 'Only Way is Essex' star overcame a standing count in the fourth round to finish the fight with a victory at the Misfits 22 event in Manchester.

However, Numero has confirmed that he plans to contest the result in an unexpected interview.

“I really don't want to cause trouble or sound rude or do anything bad.

“But every time I rewatch the fight, every time I talk to someone professional, coaches, judges, professional boxers, they all say the same thing.

“It was impossible [for Joey Essex to win].

He also noted: “I felt that it was really unfair. I worked hard, devoted so much time and effort, left a lot of things to focus on the fight. For all of that to be negated due to a bad referee, I find that really unfortunate.”

Numero also emphasized that he noticed “fear,” “weakness,” and “lack of technical skill” in Essex's eyes in the ring. Additionally, before the fight, he was told that he “would never get a decision in his favor against Joey Essex, especially in the UK.”

While rumors of a potential rematch between them have been discussed, Numero stated that he is currently more interested in a fair resolution of the first fight. If he decides to arrange a rematch, he emphasized that he would not do it again in the UK.

Essex, trained by his uncle Tony Sims, a renowned mentor for boxers like Conor Benn and Anthony Joshua, has yet to disclose the names of potential opponents for his next fight.

This situation has already sparked lively discussions among boxing fans, as Numero's dissatisfaction could lead to a rematch in the ring to finally determine which fighter is stronger. However, given his statements, the emphasis on fairness and objectivity in refereeing could become the main motive for Numero's next steps.
