Zirkzee may leave Manchester United in January: what's the reason.
Zirkzee may leave Manchester United
According to The Sun: Joshua Zirkzee is ready to leave Manchester United in January if coach Ruben Amorim continues to ignore him.
The 24-year-old striker has yet to start a match this season.
GettyDue to limited playing time, Zirkzee has lost his place in the Netherlands national team under Ronald Koeman.
Ahead of the World Cup next summer, he is eager to showcase his abilities in the second half of the season. Manchester United acquired the player for £43 million from Bologna.
Last season, Zirkzee was actively playing, featuring in 32 matches in the Premier League and 49 times in all competitions.
Although this season he has only scored three goals in the league, it seemed he had the trust of Amorim until he suffered a thigh injury in the April match against Newcastle.
This season he has played just three matches, coming on as a substitute, and did not even make the starting lineup against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.
New signings like Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Mateus Cunha have taken away his playing time, raising doubts about his status in the team.
During the summer transfer window, the club rejected a potential sale of Zirkzee, preferring the transfer of Rasmus Højlund.
Italian clubs like Juventus and PSV have also shown interest in the striker.
The Italian club Como may approach Zirkzee in January if his situation does not change.
Zirkzee has a contract with Manchester United until 2029, with an option to extend it for another year.
At the moment, Joshua Zirkzee finds himself in a difficult situation as his role in the team has significantly diminished. A lack of playing time could negatively impact his career, especially in the context of the upcoming World Cup. Interest from other clubs like Juventus and PSV could create new opportunities for him to revive his playing career. If the coach continues to give him no chances, it is likely that Zirkzee will choose a new path in January.
