Footage of opening ceremony disappears from official Olympic channel after scandal.
Video from the opening of the Paris Olympics disappears from YouTube channel
The official YouTube channel of the Games has removed a video with the best moments from the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. When attempting to view the video, users saw a message stating that the video was unavailable. The reasons for this removal were not specified, but it was likely related to a scandal caused by a drag queen parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s "The Last Supper" shown during the Olympic opening ceremony. Christians were outraged by this scene, accusing the organizers of mocking Christianity.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics took place on July 26 on the Seine and was the first in history to be held outside of a stadium. During the ceremony, 18 actors sat at a long table, and in the center was a woman with a large silver headdress reminiscent of a halo, resembling the image of Jesus. There was also a fashion show on stage, accompanied by dances.
Later, a massive tray was brought onto the stage, with a man curled up in blue paint. These elements of the show were disliked by many and became the reason for accusations of mocking Christianity.

Organizers explained that this performance was an interpretation of the Greek god Dionysus, who symbolizes wine and celebration and was meant to show the absurdity of violence between people.
The show was disliked by many, who accused it of mocking Christianity. American boxer Ryan Garcia even called for a boycott of the Olympics over this event: "You cannot mock a religion that many people respect. It's unacceptable that no one notices this."
Additionally, during the ceremony, announcers mistakenly introduced the South Korean team as the North Korean team. This led South Korean authorities to request a meeting with the President of the International Olympic Committee to clarify the situation.
Unfortunately, Ukrainian athletes did not start their participation in the Olympics well. The men's football team lost to Iraq with a score of 1:2, and the archery team failed to advance to the mixed team competition.
