According to The Sun: Kalvin Phillips will not participate in the Manchester City match as he is expecting the birth of his second child. The player has not been on the field since December 2023 and has been on loan to West Ham and Ipswich since then.

At the time of the transfer window closing, there were no serious offers regarding his transfer as the player was recovering from Achilles tendon surgery.

Head coach Pep Guardiola plans to rotate the squad for the Carabao Cup match against Huddersfield to give key players a chance to rest. However, Phillips will not participate in the game for family reasons. Guardiola commented:

“He is in London today because he will be a father for the second time.”

“He is returning to us, training, and we will see what comes of it. He has had surgery, so now he has to go through training sessions and hopefully get minutes in some matches.”
