Kazakhstan Takes Aim at Illegal Fuel Exports

According to UATV: In a decisive move to stop the unauthorized transport of gasoline, Kazakhstan has deployed 59 police checkpoints along its border with Russia. This initiative is part of broader efforts to crack down on the illicit movement of fuel out of the country.

New Police Outposts Established

On July 9, authorities set up 59 police posts at the frontier, significantly tightening oversight of gasoline shipments. Since the start of the year, Kazakhstan has recorded 255 cases of illegally installed extra fuel tanks, highlighting a persistent problem with smuggled fuel. The introduction of these checkpoints marks a critical step toward improving border security and enforcing laws governing fuel resources.

The move underscores growing concerns among Kazakh officials over illegal fuel exports, which could seriously disrupt the domestic market. As a major oil producer, Kazakhstan is keen to manage its resource flows, especially amid global price volatility and rising energy security needs. By reinforcing border controls, the country aims to prevent economic losses tied to the black-market fuel trade.
