Phil Taylor names the most promising player in darts: what holds him back.

According to The Sun: Phil Taylor expressed the view that one of the young players in darts has great potential to become one of the best if he can handle the pressure from fans.

The legendary dart player, Taylor, who won 16 world titles in his career, is convinced that Josh Rock has every chance to become a 'great player'.

Taylor, who is 65 years old, emphasized that Josh Rock, who is still young at 24, must learn how to handle the pressure of the audience.

The darts legend expressed his displeasure with the fans who whistle during matches.

Commenting on Michael van Gerwen's successes in the final of the World Series of Darts, Taylor noted:

“No, I am not surprised at all. Especially in Holland - he is on home turf, so the audience was on his side.”

“Very loud, very expressive. A lot of whistling, which I hate - it's unfair to other players, especially to young Josh who is still learning.”

Taylor also mentioned that he spoke with Rock ahead of the matches, saying:

“If he can overcome the whistles and applause and start hitting his doubles, he will become a great player.”

“He is already showing a good level, but he can become even better,” Taylor added, expressing confidence that Rock will secure a spot in the Premier League in 2026.

“I would place him second. My first three would be Josh Rock, Steven Bunting, Chris Dobey.”

Taylor also expressed his fondness for Nathan Aspinall, calling him one of his favorite players.

Regarding Josh Rock, former player Matt Edgar is convinced that he can become a serious threat to Luke Littler. Rock, currently ranked 11th in the world, won the World Cup for Northern Ireland this year and reached the finals of two European tournaments.
