Kenyan Athlete Captured in Ukraine: How He Was Deceived by Russia.
According to inkorr.com: In the area of responsibility of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Kosty Hordiienko, located in the Vovchansk direction, our defenders captured a citizen of Kenya. This was reported by the brigade's press service, writes "Glavcom".
The captive's name is Evans; he is a Kenyan athlete.
Transformation into a Russian Soldier
"His sports agent offered him a tourist trip to Saint Petersburg along with three other Kenyans, which was financed by Russia. At the end of the trip, the person accompanying the group suggested they stay in Russia and find work. By signing documents in Russian, Evans, according to him, became a Russian soldier," the 57th brigade stated.
Upon arriving at the military camp and realizing he was to become a soldier, Evans tried to refuse the proposed work. However, he was told that he had already signed a contract and could not change anything. In case of refusal to perform the tasks, serious consequences awaited him.
The captive also reported that the training lasted a week, during which he was shown how to use a machine gun.
The Kenyan's Escape from Russian Soldiers
"The commanders and instructors did not understand English, so they usually pulled him by the hands or pushed him to meet their demands. However, there were other foreigners in his unit," they added in the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Kosty Hordiienko.
Evans escaped from the Russians on his way to his first combat mission in the northern Kharkiv region.
"For two days, he wandered through the forests near Vovchansk, trying to find Ukrainian soldiers to surrender. The man asks not to exchange him for Russia: he is convinced that there awaits him certain death," the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade stated.
This amazing story highlights how an athlete from Kenya found himself in a difficult situation and how he tried to save his life. After many trials, Evans has already been freed and received the necessary assistance, allowing him to start a new stage of his life far from the war.
