China responded to Trump: cooperation with Russia in energy is legitimate.
According to inkorr.com: The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the statement of U.S. President Donald Trump, who urged Beijing to stop importing Russian oil. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian emphasized that cooperation between China and Russia in the energy sector is legitimate and complies with international norms.
According to Lin Jian, the actions of the United States are 'typical unilateral bullying and economic coercion' that violate global economic rules and pose a threat to the stability of global supply chains.
The diplomat also noted that China rejects attempts by the U.S. to place responsibility on it in this matter. He added that if the legitimate interests of China are threatened, Beijing takes countermeasures to protect its sovereignty and security.
China's Position on the Conflict in Ukraine
The Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized that China's position on the conflict in Ukraine remains 'objective, just and fair.' This statement came in response to Trump's comments about the need to halt Chinese purchases of Russian oil following his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Thus, China reacted to Trump's statement, affirming the legitimacy of its cooperation with Russia in the energy sector and its objective position regarding the conflict in Ukraine. Beijing made it clear that it has no intention of fulfilling U.S. demands, emphasizing its right to independent decisions in foreign policy.
