Chinese Blogger Strikes Gold Worth $17,000 from E-Waste.
Blogger's Success in Extracting Gold from Discarded Electronics
According to TSN.ua: A blogger from China's Guangdong province has successfully extracted gold from electronic waste, specifically thousands of old SIM cards. His efforts yielded 191.73 grams of gold, valued at over 120,000 yuan, or approximately $17,000 USD. This process highlights the potential value locked within discarded electronic components, which are often considered worthless. The global issue of electronic waste is growing, making such recovery efforts increasingly relevant.
The Scale of the Operation
To obtain this quantity of gold, the blogger required roughly 400,000 SIM cards. With each card containing only about 0.47 milligrams of gold, the sheer scale of the collection and processing effort is immense. The blogger remarked that this experience proves that a decade of work in a conventional job cannot compare to a single year spent collecting and processing scrap materials.
In his videos, he emphasizes that his story is not just about one individual recycling gold from thrown-away SIM cards, but part of a larger initiative that could inspire others to find new uses for electronic waste. This case serves as a striking example of how value can be found in materials typically considered trash, encouraging a re-evaluation of waste in the modern world.
The blogger's experience could serve as an important signal to society about the need for more effective management of electronic waste.
