Amina Okueva Remembered: Seven Fairy Tales on Life, Death, and Freedom in a New Book.
About Kaminska's Book
According to Espreso.tv: Kaminska has authored a collection of seven fairy tales dedicated to the memory of her daughter, Amina Okueva, who was killed on October 30, 2017. The tragic event took place near the village of Glevakha in the Kyiv region, where unknown assailants shot Amina and her husband, Adam Osmaev, while they were in a car.
The Value of the Stories
Kaminska states that
“this book is dedicated to the memory of my daughter Amina — a National Hero of Ukraine”. She also emphasizes that her fairy tales are 'kind' and 'about life and death.' According to the author, these stories explore:
- freedom
- love
- memory
In her view,
“when we remember, all the people are with us”. In addition to the seven tales, the book includes an eighth story that recounts Amina Okueva’s life. Kaminska also offers a key insight: 'a legend cannot be appointed — it is created by the people themselves.'
This work not only honors the heroine’s memory but also seeks to convey essential values through fairy tales that address profound human themes.
Honoring Amina Okueva through literature is a meaningful step in preserving her legacy and highlighting the importance of heroism in contemporary Ukrainian society. The fairy tales in the book can serve both as a tool for remembrance and as a means of educating new generations in the spirit of love, freedom, and respect for those who fight for justice. By celebrating Amina’s character, the author also calls for greater awareness of our heroes and their stories, which continue to live on in people’s hearts.
