Tariffs for electricity and gas will remain unchanged: when to expect price increases.
The issue of tariffs in Ukraine remains quite relevant. From time to time, there are forecasts regarding increases in utility prices in 2026, raising questions among the population about potential growth in tariffs for household consumers.
On this topic, people's deputy Serhiy Nahornyak stated during the 'Morning.LIVE' program from the 'Servant of the People' faction.
How much will Ukrainians pay for electricity and gas
According to the deputy, electricity prices remain within economically justified limits for companies 'Energoatom' and 'Ukrhydroenergo'. Currently, tariffs are:
- 4.32 UAH/kWh — daytime tariff;
- 2.16 UAH/kWh — nighttime tariff;
- 2.64 UAH/kWh — for electric heating owners in winter.
It is noted that transitioning to market prices for energy companies is currently not advisable, as Ukrainians need time to recover from the consequences of the war. An effective assistance system must also be implemented for those who cannot pay the new tariffs.
Regarding gas, in the context of losses for 'Naftogaz' due to missile attacks, the price of 7.96 UAH per cubic meter may remain unchanged until the end of 2026. Experts believe that the company should first optimize internal expenses before considering increasing gas prices for the population.
'They should start tightening their belts themselves, and only then from the Ukrainians,' the expert noted.
What to expect from water tariffs
According to Nahornyak, water prices may rise several times in 2026 due to significant losses of water utilities. Water supply tariffs have not been reviewed for a long time, which needs to change.
'This is not a question for the Verkhovna Rada, this is not a question for the government, the regulator must take direct responsibility for this issue,' the politician added.
One of the key problems in the industry is high electricity costs and water losses due to the emergency state of the pipelines.
In Nahornyak's opinion, without effective measures from the NEURC and local self-government bodies, there is a risk of water supply cessation in certain regions.
It should be noted that a limited freeze on tariff increases for public utilities is in place until the end of 2025, which will keep electricity costs for household consumers at current levels.
It is also worth remembering that the issue of electricity pricing remains relevant for Ukraine and the EU, impacting citizens' lives, the economy, and energy efficiency.
Ukrainians are predicted to maintain current electricity and gas tariffs until the end of 2026, but there could be an increase in water supply costs due to significant losses in this sector. Politicians express concerns about a possible cessation of water supply in certain regions and call on regulators to implement effective measures to keep utility services affordable for Ukrainians.
