Kalmykova: half of veterans return to work or start a business.
According to inkorr.com: After returning to civilian life, many Ukrainian veterans can either take up their old positions again or choose new career paths, including starting their own businesses or undergoing retraining programs. This was stated by the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Natalia Kalmykova.
'On average, half of the people return to their workplace. Some of them remain in the security and defense sector, while others create businesses that produce dual-use goods, drones, etc. There are also those who rethink their opportunities through retraining programs,' Kalmykova explained.
According to the minister, in each community, there are specialists supporting veterans who help them determine their next steps in life. The state also actively supports veterans' entrepreneurial initiatives by providing grants, which have already helped nearly 2,800 servicemen start their own businesses.
Support and prospects
Kalmykova emphasized that supporting veteran entrepreneurship is one of the priority areas. Among the popular business sectors for veterans are the production of dual-use goods and drones, allowing them to remain active in the defense sector even after completing military service.
The local-level veteran support system ensures an individual approach to each serviceman, helping them find the best path to peaceful civilian life.
Ukrainian veterans returning to civilian life receive opportunities to restore their former jobs, start their own businesses, or undergo retraining for new professions. State assistance through the grant system fosters the development of veteran entrepreneurship, opening wide prospects for the active participation of Ukrainian military personnel in civilian life.
