Ten-Hour Assault on Kryvyi Rih Leaves 13 Injured, Including Four Children.
Kryvyi Rih Endures Ten-Hour Barrage
According to Novyny.live: A massive, ten-hour-long combined missile and drone attack struck the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih on January 22. The assault resulted in 13 civilian casualties, four of whom were children. Six of the wounded remain hospitalized in moderate condition.
This attack on a major industrial center in central Ukraine highlights the ongoing threat to civilian areas far from the front lines. The bombardment damaged at least 18 residential buildings, 13 of which were apartment blocks, with one multi-story building effectively destroyed. Other damaged infrastructure includes:
- two educational institutions;
- a cultural center;
- administrative buildings;
- multiple vehicles.
Approximately 10,000 residents were left without electricity. Emergency services deployed 27 response teams and over 20 pieces of equipment to deal with the aftermath. High-speed tram and partial trolleybus services were temporarily halted but have since been restored.
The head of the city's Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, detailed the situation on Telegram, emphasizing the scale of the attack and its severe impact on Kryvyi Rih's residents.
This incident is part of the wider conflict in Ukraine and signals an intensification of hostilities affecting civilian populations. The damage to critical infrastructure and the wounding of non-combatants not only endangers lives but also threatens regional stability. Local authorities continue to work on restoring damaged sites and providing aid to victims, with a particular focus on children, who suffer disproportionately from the war's consequences.
