According to UATV: The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has documented fresh evidence of Russia deploying munitions containing depleted uranium during strikes on the Chernihiv region. These findings were linked to Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones—locally designated as 'Geran-2'—used by Russian forces between April and June 2023.

Russian troops are also known to incorporate radioactive materials into R-60M missiles. Analysis revealed that background radiation levels surged to 80 times the natural norm. The gamma radiation emitted from drone debris ranged from 8.3 to 24 µSv/h, while the safe threshold is just 0.3 µSv/h. These weapons contain the nuclear isotopes Uranium-235 and Uranium-238, and their radioactive components were confirmed using dosimetric equipment.

The SBU warns that 'this radiation poses a direct threat to human health and the environment.'
