There Will Be Less Corn - Why the Yield of Agriculture Will Decrease.
This year, the yield of corn turned out to be less than expected, which will lead to a decrease in the export of this product. Ivan Tomych, head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasantry, explained that the reason for this was heavy rains with hail, which negatively affected the yields.
'If we hoped for an export level of about 24 million tons, it will be lower. How much - I can't say yet. Again, let's wait until the harvesting begins.'
Experts noted that prices for corn have slightly decreased to 9.6 thousand hryvnias per ton, and also indicated that prices for other crops, such as wheat and barley, may also affect their export potential in the coming year. Agrarians have already started sending contracted volumes of soybeans and rapeseed abroad.
The rise in prices for soybeans and rapeseed, along with the decrease in corn yields, may affect the agricultural sector of Ukraine in the future. Currently, agricultural workers are also taking measures to preserve the wheat harvest, expecting a harvest of up to 22 million tons.
