Ukrainian Hryvnia Could Strengthen to 43.90 Against the Dollar in March.
What Lies Ahead for the Dollar Exchange Rate in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In March 2026, Ukraine's official hryvnia-to-dollar exchange rate is experiencing fluctuations. The U.S. currency is forecast to remain within a corridor of 44.00–44.30 UAH/USD or possibly drop to 43.90 UAH/USD, depending on global developments. By the end of the month, Ukrainians may be able to purchase dollar banknotes at a slightly lower price.
During the first month of spring 2026, the official hryvnia-to-dollar rate fluctuated between 43.09 and 44.16 UAH/USD. As of Monday, March 23, 2026, the National Bank of Ukraine set the exchange rate at 43.82 UAH/USD. From March 23 to March 29, 2026, the dollar exchange rate in Ukraine is expected to stabilize in the range of 44.00–44.30 UAH/USD. Shifts in the dollar rate in Ukraine are directly tied to international events.
“The so-called dangerous stabilization of the hryvnia is linked to the euro strengthening to 1.16 in the major currency pair.”
Expert Oleksiy Plotnikov
At the same time, he noted that “in theory, Donald Trump could come out to journalists on Monday and announce that the war with Iran is over,” a development that could also impact currency exchange rates.
Additional Information for Ukrainians
As of 2026, all U.S. dollar banknotes issued after 1914 remain valid in Ukraine. However, dollar bills printed before 1914 are considered non-legal tender and cannot be used for transactions. This is an important detail to keep in mind when exchanging currency at exchange offices.
The dollar exchange rate situation in Ukraine depends not only on domestic economic factors but also on external events that can significantly sway the currency market. Given potential shifts in international politics, Ukrainians should stay alert to news that could affect the country's economic landscape. Predicting the dollar rate is a complex task, making it essential to monitor current trends and expert advice.
