The Euro's Performance in January 2026

According to Novyny.live: In January 2026, the euro's exchange rate experienced fluctuations, trading between a low of 49.51 UAH/EUR and a high of 50.52 UAH/EUR. According to financial expert Oleksiy Plotnikov, the hryvnia's value against the euro is expected to stabilize in the near term, despite some ongoing volatility. This forecast is significant for a country where the exchange rate directly impacts the cost of imports and foreign transactions.

Following January 9th, the hryvnia-to-euro rate was recorded at 1.16 USD/EUR. The rate at local currency exchange points may exceed 51 UAH. Throughout December 2025, the hryvnia-to-euro rate remained within a range of 1.17 to 1.18 USD/EUR. The National Bank of Ukraine does not intervene in setting this rate, which suggests the fluctuations are primarily driven by market forces.

Outlook and Stability Predictions

The projected range for the hryvnia-to-euro rate in the immediate future is between 50.20 and 50.60 UAH/EUR. Oleksiy Plotnikov notes that while the European currency has weakened somewhat against the US dollar, there is no immediate basis for a sharp decline in its value. Therefore, Ukrainians can anticipate a degree of stability in the euro's exchange rate, but should remain prepared for potential variations at exchange bureaus.

Stability in the hryvnia-to-euro rate is crucial for Ukrainian importers and exporters, as currency volatility affects business planning and financial calculations. The market-driven conditions, free from National Bank intervention, indicate a maturing foreign exchange market in Ukraine. However, this also underscores the need to monitor shifts in the international economy that could influence the exchange rate.
