Lyashko: Ukraine is creating the strongest rehabilitation system in Europe.
According to inkorr.com: Ukraine's Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko participated in the Amputee Rehab Summit 2025, where he talked about achievements in rehabilitation and future plans.
Rehabilitation development in Ukraine
The Ministry of Health is actively working to improve the rehabilitation system, which is one of its main areas of activity. This is part of the National Strategy to create a barrier-free environment in Ukraine. One of the key goals is to form the most powerful rehabilitation system in Europe. Minister Lyashko emphasized that the network of centers of excellence is gradually expanding to provide quality, accessible, and free rehabilitation assistance to all citizens.
Today we have already moved from construction to development. We have an ambitious goal - to create the strongest rehabilitation system in Europe, - noted Viktor Lyashko.
Improving service accessibility
Ukraine has 569 medical institutions providing rehabilitation assistance. In 2025, funding for these services tripled compared to 2021. Now payment is determined based on the complexity of the case, allowing for better consideration of the needs of patients with various injuries. Several payment levels have been developed depending on the situation.
In 2025, about 6.5 billion UAH is allocated for rehabilitation - three times more than in 2021, - emphasized Viktor Lyashko.
Modern rehabilitation system in Ukraine
Over the last two years, the number of therapeutic sessions conducted and patients receiving rehabilitation assistance has significantly increased. Ukraine has seven centers of excellence that serve as bases for training specialists and implementing innovative practices in rehabilitation. Modernization of rehabilitation infrastructure is currently underway thanks to large projects being implemented across the country.
Participation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the Amputee Rehab Summit 2025 highlighted the importance of developing the rehabilitation system in the country. Improving the accessibility and quality of rehabilitation services is a key task for enhancing Ukraine's medical system. Additional funding and the expansion of the network of centers of excellence will significantly contribute to improving patients' health and increasing the volume of services provided.
