The cyclist from Lithuania did not want to stand next to the Russian on the podium
According to inkorr.com: Lithuanian cyclist Daiva Tušlaitė-Ragazinskė refused to take a joint photo on the podium with the Russian Darya Pravilova. This information was confirmed by 'Glavcom'.
Pravilova became the world champion in gravel cycling in the Netherlands in the age category of 35 to 39 years.
The prize was received by Belgian Elke Timperman, who took third place, and she stepped onto the first podium for a joint photo with the Russian, while the Lithuanian, who won silver, refused to participate with them.
Russian's admission to the Olympics-2026
Russian freestyler Anastasia Tatalina appealed to the International Ski Federation and Snowboarding (FIS) for admission to the 2026 Olympic Games.
Tatalina is a member of the Russian military club CSKA, which has ties to the military actions of Russia in Ukraine.
“I represent Russia, and I was very happy when President Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) sent me a telegram after my victory at the World Championship,” she stated in April 2022.
She also noted a post with the Russian military slogan “we do not leave our own behind.”
The situation at the awards ceremony confirms the presence of tension in relations between athletes from different countries. Tušlaitė-Ragazinskė's refusal to take a joint photo with the Russian reflects the broader context of political and social controversies affecting the sports world today. Tatalina's statements about participation in the Olympics-2026 resonate in the sports community and may become a topic of discussion among athletes and sports organizations.Read also
