Lithuania has repaired the damaged communication cable through the Baltic Sea.

The Swedish telecommunications company Telia Lietuva has successfully repaired the damaged communication cable between Lithuania and Sweden in the Baltic Sea, which occurred two weeks ago. This was reported by LRT.

A company representative confirmed that traffic through the Baltic Sea has been restored, and more than a third of international internet traffic has passed through this channel. At the same time, it was noted that the public had no connectivity issues.

“We have several internet connections in Lithuania with high capacity, so users can be assured that the connection will work even under inconvenient conditions,” said Telia's technical director Andrius Shemeškyavičius.

Earlier, the Finnish company Cinia reported damage to the undersea cable C-Lion1, which connects Finland and Germany in the Baltic Sea. The cable runs 1,173 km from Santahamina in Helsinki to Rostock in Germany. This led to the disruption of telecommunications connections between the countries.

Later, it was found that another undersea cable connecting Lithuania and Sweden was also damaged in the Baltic Sea. Telia's technical director Andrius Shemeškyavičius reported that this incident occurred early Sunday morning around 10:00.

NATO also suspects that a Chinese vessel, which was on its way from Russia, may be related to the deliberate damage to undersea cables in the Baltic Sea in mid-November.
