Ukrainian Security Council Adds Lyubov Uspenskaya to National Threat List.
Lyubov Uspenskaya Listed as a Threat to Ukrainian National Security
According to TSN.ua: Lyubov Uspenskaya has been officially designated as a person who poses a threat to Ukraine's national security. The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting made this decision during its session on January 22, 2023. The basis for her inclusion is her public support for Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. This action is part of Ukraine's broader legal and security measures to counter foreign influence and propaganda.
It was further noted that Uspenskaya has participated in propaganda events within temporarily occupied territories. She has made illegal visits to Crimea, as well as to certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In July 2024, she visited the Donetsk region again, raising further concerns about her activities and allegiances.
Sanctions and Consequences
On January 7, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against Uspenskaya, underscoring the seriousness with which her actions are viewed. Notably, Uspenskaya was born in Kyiv and graduated from the Kyiv Glière Music College. In 2024, she acquired Russian citizenship, a move that further highlights her ties to the aggressor state.
Placing Lyubov Uspenskaya on the list of individuals threatening national security demonstrates the state's active stance in combating propaganda and information warfare from Russia.
The sanctions levied against Uspenskaya illustrate the significant consequences for those who endorse the Kremlin's aggressive policies. This step may serve as a warning to other cultural and artistic figures, urging caution in their statements and actions when they could jeopardize Ukraine's national interests.
