According to The Sun: Josh Rock is so talented that it's 'no joke'.

This opinion was expressed by former darts player Matthew Edgar, who believes that Rock could become a serious threat to world champion Luke Littler.

Josh Rock, who is ranked 11th in the world, won the World Cup for Northern Ireland this year and reached two Euro Tour finals.

He also lost a closely contested match to Littler in the Matchplay semifinals in July.

Edgar notes that Rock, 24, can compete for major titles and states on talkSPORT:

“This guy is a joke, in the best sense of the word. I won't be asking, 'How good is he?'. We know that.”

“He said at the beginning of the year that he wants to be at the level of Littler. He is already very close. It's not a matter of if he will win a big title, but when.”

“Another question is the qualification for the Premier League — and I think he is already there.”

“He plays with such energy that he gets tired during the day. In week formats, he will have time to recover, and I think that suits him.”

Littler has made a splash in the darts world, appearing on the scene at 16, but Rock might be the one to push him to new heights.

Littler's statement

The reigning world champion and world number two, Littler, recently made an impressive announcement regarding his future.

On his social media page, he revealed that he had to make the tough decision to 'step aside'.

In a 50-second video published online, Littler appeared on screen in a white t-shirt and gray sweatpants, sitting down.

Littler stated:

“I have had a wonderful career. I could not ask for more. It's been two busy years.”

“Premier League at 17, nine darts on TV, winning the world championship at 18 – I am the youngest to do it.”

“Thank you to all my fans, these past two years have been phenomenal.”

“This will shock some people. It was not an easy decision. Now I want to focus on what I truly love.”

However, as he left the stage, the microphone captured Littler asking in the background:

“Do you think they will swallow this?”

While his message stirred a wave of emotions among fans, some believe this might just be a ruse or a setup for some announcement.

A popular theory concerns a possible connection to video games, which could imply a new milestone in Littler's career.
