Salford on the brink of extinction: how a financial scandal threatens rugby league.
The situation with Salford threatens the entire game of rugby
According to The Sun: Huddersfield coach Luke Robinson believes that the problems of Salford club affect not just the club itself but the whole sport of rugby. Recent news about a forged bank account used by the owners of the 'Red Devils', Iosoya 'Sire' Kailahi and Curtis Brown, during attempts to buy the Shared Stadium, has shocked the community.
Coach Luke Robinson is confident that the chaos in Salford affects the entire rugby sportSWPIX.COMThere are fears that the match in Huddersfield may be the club's penultimate game before its liquidation. Robinson, who played for Salford from 2005 to 2007, believes that this situation could have serious consequences for the entire rugby community.
He noted:
“I feel a great sadness, not just for Salford but for the sport. We are not football. If one team disappears or goes into administration, it affects not just them but the whole sport. It will impact my little boys who play this game and would love to have the chance to try. The fewer teams, the more it hurts the sport as a whole. Salford occupies a key position in the country. Losing this club would be a huge blow to the game.”
Luke also emphasized how important it is to preserve clubs that are the heart of the sport. He added that
“Playing for Salford, I experienced some of the best moments of my career. I am sad to see the club falling apart, as many people give their hearts and souls to this team.”

The club's owners, Kailahi and Brown, deny the allegations and claim that the situation has a racist undertone. Outraged fans believe that this information should serve as a finale for both.
As of today, about 18 players and numerous staff have left the club due to delayed wages. There is a risk of club liquidation due to unpaid debts to HMRC exceeding £626,000, and a hearing on this issue is scheduled for October 29. Many believe that without the £5 million loan that has been talked about so much, avoiding the end will be impossible.
Meanwhile, coach Paul Rowley speaks about the future, mentioning the former arena:
“I am sure many people in Salford would like us to return to that stadium. The best thing is to have our own stadium and lead our lives, having the keys to the doors. I hope that one day we can turn Salford Community Stadium into something like that.”
