Former BKA agent helped Brückner: why she paid his fine.
A graduate who facilitated the release of the suspect in the Madeleine McCann case turned out to be a former agent of the German FBI
According to The Sun: The police officer who secured the release of Christian Brückner, the suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, turned out to be a former agent of the German FBI. According to sources, she 'sympathized' with Brückner.
Rebecca K., 39 years old, paid a court fee of £1,300, which complicated the prosecution of the pedophile for the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.

Rebecca K. stated that she was aware of Brückner's criminal past but was concerned that his rights might be violated.
Controversies surrounding Brückner's release
She believes that her decision helped Brückner be released much earlier than expected—rather than in January of next year.
The officer said: “This suspect claimed that he was tortured, and I thought that his human rights might have been violated. I thought he should only have to pay a fine, as what he claimed seemed true to me, considering what I read in the newspapers.”
“I thought that his human rights had been violated just as I felt that my human rights had been violated by former colleagues.”
Rebecca K. previously worked in a secret team that monitored Brückner; however, her career declined due to conflicts with colleagues.

Circumstances and the future of the case
Brückner was already convicted of raping an American woman in Praia da Luz in 2005, two years before Madeleine's disappearance. Since he was officially identified in 2020, he has not faced charges related to Madeleine.
There are now fears that Brückner may vanish after his release, complicating the work of investigators trying to bring charges against him.
“I wanted to cancel the payment,” Rebecca K. admitted, noting that she knew about Brückner's crimes.
German prosecutors in the Madeleine case declined to comment on the situation.
This situation has sparked widespread public resonance, as the Madeleine McCann case remains unresolved. Rebecca K.'s decision to release the suspect has caused outrage among those following the case, especially given his criminal past. Whether investigators will manage to return to the investigation remains in question.
