Big 12 Match at Wembley Stadium

A Big 12 conference match will take place at the legendary Wembley Stadium.

In the game, the Kansas Jayhawks will face the Arizona State Sun Devils.

This match has been named the Union Jack Classic.

It is scheduled for Saturday, September 19th next year.

London has long been a popular city for NFL games, which have been held here since 2007.

However, this will be the first college football match at the city's national stadium.

Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark said: “I am excited that Big 12 football is heading to London for the first-ever college football game at Wembley Stadium.”
“I have often said that my goal is to make Big 12 the most globally significant conference in college athletics.”

In recent years, college football has been held in Dublin, Ireland.

This year, the Iowa Cyclones defeated the K-State Wildcats.

For 2026, a match between the University of North Carolina and TCU Horned Frogs has already been confirmed, which will take place on August 29th.

Unlike the match in London, Irish games usually take place at the beginning of the season.

Feedback from Team Representatives

Kansas Athletics Director Travis Goff said: “This is the perfect time for Kansas to pave a new path to the historic Wembley Stadium in London.”
“This opportunity reflects the growth of our football program and the entire university, as well as providing our fans and students with a unique experience.”
Arizona State Athletics Director Graham Roccini noted: “Big 12 is leading the globalization of college football, and we are proud to be part of this.”
“College sports are about providing our athletes with life-changing experiences, and playing at Wembley Stadium during the Union Jack Classic will be unparalleled.”

“With nearly 18,000 international students from 160 countries, ASU is already thriving on the global stage, and we can't wait to showcase Sun Devils football and Arizona State University to fans across Europe.”

This event will be an important step for college football, expanding its geography and attracting new fans. Moving games to the international arena reflects the growing interest in college sports outside the U.S. and the desire of conferences to make their brands more recognizable worldwide. Engaging with international fans also creates new opportunities for developing programs and sports initiatives among students from around the globe.
